Illinois Coalition for Manufacturing Innovation Consulting
|
Argonne National Laboratory, a national laboratory for science and engineering research, and the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) are offering, free of charge, an opportunity for small- to mid-size manufacturing companies to collaborate with distinguished technology experts. If chosen to participate, a manufacturer will partner with Argonne and/or IIT staff during a complimentary multiple-day consultation.
Manufacturers also may have the opportunity to work with Argonne over a period of five days in which Argonne will help the manufacturer write a proposal to secure funding so that Argonne may partner with that company to work on the project.
1. Build relationships with scientists with expertise relevant to your business who have helped such noted companies as McDonald’s Corporation, Caterpillar Inc. and Baxter Healthcare Corporation.
2. Obtain a diagnostic and/or solution for a technical challenge with which your company is dealing, actual examples include:
Developing new coatings or coatings that will reduce the wear of parts or reduce friction;
Improving energy efficiency and creating more efficient and environmentally friendly processes;
Visualizing the design of a product; and/or
Minimizing the generation of waste in a process.
3. Learn how you may engage notable university faculty and national lab scientists in your business.
IIT and/or Argonne staff will work with you to diagnose your company’s problem and will offer recommendations and suggestions for how you may resolve the problem. The team also will work towards resolution of the problem. If additional funding is secured, IIT and/or Argonne staff may be able to partner with you to work on solving additional challenges.
If your company has a challenge that it would like addressed, please download and complete the form here and submit to John DeRango at jderango@chicagolandchamber.org.
The Symposium Team will then review your application and determine whether either institution has staff that could assist. You will be notified of acceptance so that you can prepare for the complimentary consulting session. Please note that preference will be given to manufacturers within the state of Illinois.
